Carotid Stenting

Stroke due to blockage in the main arteries to the brain (carotid artery) is the third leading cause of death and a primary cause of disability in the world. Traditionally, an operation has been necessary to literally remove the blockage. Carotid stenting offers patients a less invasive means to open the carotid artery, and reduce the risk of a disabling stroke. Dr. Chatham is one of the first in the East Valley to employ this exciting new technology since 2006. This is not an option for all patients, but it is worthwhile to discuss whether you are a candidate for carotid stent with Dr. Chatham.
